Visiting Angels Introduce
For California families seeking compassionate and reliable care for their elderly loved ones, finding a trustworthy local resource is paramount. In the greater Los Angeles County area, particularly for residents in and around Cerritos, a key option for non-medical in-home support is the local office of Visiting Angels. This well-known national franchise focuses on providing personalized assistance that allows seniors to maintain their independence and comfortably age in place within the familiar environment of their own home, an increasingly desired alternative to facility-based care.
The core mission of Visiting Angels is to offer professional, customized care that addresses the unique physical, emotional, and social needs of each individual client. By focusing on non-medical home care services, they serve as a critical support system for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and their primary family caregivers in the Southern California community. The agency is generally categorized by the industry as a home health care service, though the nature of the services often supports roles typically associated with assisted living or senior citizen centers, but delivered directly in the client's home.
It is important for local families to research thoroughly. While many clients express satisfaction, praising caregivers for being 'kind and compassionate' and 'a lifeline for families,' the local office’s performance, like any local franchise, depends heavily on management and the individual staff members. One notable review from a customer expressed significant disappointment, citing issues with a caregiver's vetting, initiative, and the agency’s failure to meet the expressed needs detailed in the care plan, leading to an immediate contract cessation. This highlights the absolute necessity for families to conduct their own due diligence, openly communicate their expectations, and closely monitor the initial stages of care to ensure the service aligns perfectly with their needs.
The company prides itself on customizing care plans, understanding that no two seniors are alike. Whether a loved one needs minimal assistance a few hours a week or more intensive, around-the-clock support, the goal is to provide dignified assistance tailored to their schedule and specific requirements.

Features / Highlights
As a local chapter of a national network, Visiting Angels highlights several features intended to distinguish their service in the competitive California senior care market:
- Customized Care Plans: Services are not one-size-fits-all but are highly personalized to meet the specific needs, schedule, and preferences of the senior and their family.
- Focus on Aging in Place: The core philosophy is to enable clients to remain in their homes for as long as possible, supporting independence and comfort.
- Locally Owned and Operated: While part of a national brand, the Cerritos office is locally owned, suggesting the leadership and caregivers are part of the local community and understand regional resources and needs.
- Free In-Home Consultation: They offer a complimentary, no-obligation consultation to assess the client's needs and discuss potential care plans directly in their home environment.
- Digital Care Assistance: Some Visiting Angels locations may offer tools like Constant Companion, a HIPAA-compliant smart voice assistant speaker that acts as a voice-activated medical alert system, connecting clients to 24/7 urgent response agents. Families should confirm the availability of such technology with the Cerritos office.
- Flexibility in Scheduling: The agency strives to accommodate a wide range of scheduling needs, from short visits to around-the-clock care, even if some clients may still desire more flexibility in shift lengths than currently offered.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing an in-home care provider is a deeply personal and critical decision for California families. What makes Visiting Angels an option worth considering is their specialization in non-medical, personalized, one-on-one care delivered directly in the home. For seniors in Cerritos and the surrounding areas who value their independence and wish to remain in their familiar surroundings, this model of care is often superior to a move to a facility.
The company’s ability to offer specialized programs, such as comprehensive Alzheimer’s and Dementia care, Transitional Care to reduce hospital readmissions, and crucial Respite Care for family members, demonstrates a commitment to addressing the complexities of senior care. The existence of a formal structure, with a clear consultation process and a diverse menu of services, suggests a professional and systematic approach to care management.
However, the key to a successful partnership, as with any home care agency, lies in the alignment between the client's specific needs and the quality of the individual caregiver provided by the local office. The breadth of their services—from simple companionship and light housekeeping to dedicated personal care—means they can adapt the service as a senior’s needs change over time. For California residents seeking a flexible, customizable, and comprehensive in-home care solution backed by a national presence, Visiting Angels Cerritos provides a strong option to explore, keeping in mind the importance of direct oversight and open communication regarding the quality of the caregivers assigned.

Visiting Angels Reviews
We were very disappointed with Visiting Angels. Had numerous intake appts explaining our needs, and signed a care plan and contract. The caregiver that was sent had no initiative, took calls from other agencies while working, Visiting Angels said she would not drive the client even though we expressly requested a driver and it was in our care plan, wasn't vaccinated against COVID-19, told us she didn't like Visiting Angels and that she was only hired days before arriving to our home, then complained we made her do "yardwork" even though we had a gardener and only asked her to water potted plants in our mother's patio. Caregiver was not vetted properly and agency did not meet the needs expressed in the care plan. Immediately ceased contract.
